Catherine Kingston, Customer Services Manager at Quills is getting stuck in at the Warrior Games this June in order to raise funds and awareness for cystic fibrosis.

The 24hrs4cf Warrior Games

The Warrior Games is an amazing charity that was set up by Josh Llewellyn-Jones who was born with cystic fibrosis and went from a 10% chance of survival to exercising non-stop for 24 hours. The games were originally set up to help encourage children with cystic fibrosis to exercise and now, Josh has raised over £750,000 for cystic fibrosis charities.

The games start at 10 am on the 29th June 2019 and finish at 10 am the following day.  During this time 20 teams of four will battle it out in 20-minute workouts, for 24 hours, across 10 different exercises, plus one surprise exercise! Points are awarded per exercise for each team. All of the exercises are designed to challenge your whole body and physical strength.  Good luck Catherine and team Harry!

The exercises Catherine and her team have to complete include:

  • Cycling
  • Running
  • Weight lifting
  • Rowing
  • Air squats
  • The tyre flip
  • Release press ups
  • Burpees
  • Sit-ups
  • The Prowler
  • Sandbag carry

Meet team Harry & their reasons for getting involved

Team Harry are striving to create more awareness and raise funds for cystic fibrosis, a genetic disorder that affects mostly the lungs, but also the pancreas, liver, kidneys, and intestine and has affected a huge number of families.

After speaking with Catherine, she explained “I am taking part in the Warrior Games for Cystic Fibrosis (CF) to promote awareness for this amazing charity. I lost my brother to CF two years ago and I can’t help but think if there was someone like Josh and the CF Warriors charity when he was younger then things may have been different. Josh gives young children with CF hope and inspiration and he is a true role model for young kids. He encourages them to get active to help keep their lungs clear. It’s a great charity and I am prepared to work out along with my team for 24 hours to raise money for this awesome charity!”

We also spoke to Steve Martin, part of team Harry, who said “I am the co-ed Exec of Smart Financial, financial planning business and a director in the Financial Planning Training academy which trains Financial Planners. I do this for Harry. He is 9 and was diagnosed with CF via the heel prick test at 2 weeks old. He is a very healthy active child who is totally inspired by Josh and his achievements. So, in simple terms, if Josh is having that impact on my family, the least I can do is support him!”

All the team at Quills would like to take this opportunity to wish Team Harry unconditional luck and support on the lead up to and throughout the Warrior Games 2019!
