But what exactly is the BOSS Federation, and what were Quills judged on to win?

Who are the BOSS Federation?

The BOSS Federation is the leading trade association for the UK Office Products and Workplace Supplies industry. It represents dealers, manufacturers, wholesalers and service providers across the sector and plays a central role in supporting collaboration, innovation and best practice.

The BOSS Federation exists to support its network of members by bringing together working groups and industry experts who share insight, guidance and best practice. This collaborative approach helps members stay well informed, adapt to change, and deliver high standards of service, responsibility and professionalism to their customers.

What is the BOSS Dealer of the Year Award?

The BOSS Dealer of the Year Award is one of the most respected accolades in the workplace supplies sector. Crucially, it is not an award companies can simply enter or buy into.

To be considered:

  • Quills first had to be nominated by industry peers or partners

  • We then had to accept the nomination and commit to completing a detailed application to be assessed by a panel of judges

From there, the process becomes evidence-based, structured and independently reviewed.

What were Quills judged on?

The judging process required a comprehensive application supported by real examples, data and outcomes. Judges – made up of experienced industry professionals – assessed Quills across several key areas:

How we look after our customers

This focused on service delivery, responsiveness, relationship management and our ability to support customers consistently and reliably. It wasn’t about claims – it was about how we operate day to day.

Diversification beyond traditional office supplies

The workplace has changed, and Quills has evolved with it. Judges looked at how we have expanded our offer to support the wider workplace, ensuring customers can rely on us as a single, trusted partner rather than multiple suppliers.

Environmental and sustainability achievements

Sustainability was a core part of the assessment. Quills was required to share its environmental actions, responsible sourcing, and how it supports customers with their own environmental goals. Achieving ISO 14001 accreditation in July 2025 was a major milestone for us as a business, demonstrating our commitment to managing environmental impacts and to commit to continuously improve our sustainability practices.

The judges examined how Quills has remained flexible, innovative and forward-thinking as customer expectations, working patterns and workplace requirements continue to evolve.
